Remembering Jack Briscoe

Freddie Joe Brisco (September 21, 1941 – February 1, 2010) was an American professional wrestler, better known as Jack Brisco or Uvalde Slim. He performed for various territories of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), becoming a two-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion, and multi-time NWA Tag Team Champion with his brother Gerald Brisco. Brisco was considered one of the top wrestlers of his era; in 2005, Don Leo Jonathan called him "probably the greatest champion of the 20th century."
In the late 1970s, the Brisco Brothers also discovered Terry Bollea, the future wrestling legend best known as Hulk Hogan, who they introduced to Hiro Matsuda for training.
On February 1, 2010, Brisco died at the age of 68 after complications from open heart surgery.[5] He is survived by his wife of over 30 years.

CCW Personal Notes:
Did you ever get a chance to the Jack wrestle? I was able to see him in singles action as well as tag team matches with his brother Jerry and I must admit that I have never been a fan of there style of wrestling. Not sure why or what it is but to me, he (they) were just kinda boring. I would not care to see Dory Funk Jr in a match without Terry to lead the entertainment. Jack nor Jerry really had that WOW factor.
I remember Conway, SC in the 80's when Sgt. Slaughter & Don Kernodle had the NWA Tag Title Belts and were battling Ricky Steamboat & Jay Youngblood. These four would sell out the High School Gym every few weeks with a great match each time and finally settling the score inside the steel cage. I can remember that after the cage match was over and the bell rang, Promoter Henry Marcus announcing the next date of the show and the main event - "Sgt Slaughter & Don Kernodle will defend  the titles again Jack & Jerry Briscoe. Needless to say, I am the only ones who felt that this was not a good match up as that next show was maybe half full at best.
With that being said, I give the Briscoe's credit for doing a great job in the wrestling business. They did a lot and came along way and well, they did bring us HULK HOGAN.
